JASON LAMB, MANAGING PARTNER
Prior to founding The Hard Yards, Jason was a Vice President at The HumanGeo Group and a Product Manager at Ringtail Design. Both companies are software development and data visualization pioneers supporting national security agencies. Jason is a former Navy SEAL officer and brings more than 20 years of deep special operations and intelligence community expertise. He holds an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business with a focus on venture capital and entrepreneurial studies. Jason also earned an M.S. in the Management of Information Technology from the University of Virginia, an M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, and a B.S. in Political Science from the United States Naval Academy.
Mark pushinsky, MANAGING PARTNER
Formerly a Director of Product Management at Capital One, Mark led transformational, large-scale software development programs using Design Thinking and Agile best practices. As a Certified Scrum Trainer, Mark has trained thousands of people both in and out of software development including Naval Special Warfare. Mark routinely challenges teams and executives to embrace these new ways for working through assessment, strategic planning, and executive coaching. Mark holds an MBA from the Darden School of Business, an M.S. in the Management of Information Technology from University of Virginia, and a B.A. in Business Administration from The College of William and Mary.
MICHAEL VIZDOS, pARTNER
Michael Vizdos is a Partner at Hard Yards and is a CST (Certified Scrum Trainer). He works with the team training, consulting and mentoring clients internationally. Michael is the creator of ImplementingScrum.com and has been in the industry for over twenty-five years; he is an early agile pioneer and co-authored a book with Scott Ambler. Michael is also the Scrum Master in Residence at VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) da Vinci Center and received his B.A. in Entrepreneurial Management from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.
RASHAD BADR, PRINCIPAL
Rashad is a Principal and Director of Federal Programs at The Hard Yards. Prior to joining the team, Rashad co-founded ImpactBeta, a data analytics and consulting firm dedicated to helping nonprofits and philanthropies increase their social impact. Prior to co-founding ImpactBeta, Rashad has held positions at the McChrystal Group, Booz Allen Hamilton, the U.S. special operations community, the Joint Staff’s Deputy Directorate for Special Operations and Counterterrorism, and the State Department’s Bureau of Counterterrorism. Rashad received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Princeton, where he was the recipient of the Scholars in the Nation’s Service Initiative Prize.
DOUG ROSENBERG, AGILE COACH
Doug is an Agile Coach and Trainer at Hard Yards. Prior to joining the team, Doug led program teams through Agile transformations working for CapTech Consulting with major clients such as GE and Anthem Health. Doug has been in the Agile coaching and training space since 2005, having started as a developer, and then moving on to be a Scrum Master, Product Owner and eventually Coach. Doug also spent three years designing interactive training and app content for mobile devices, for clients such Comcast and Owens and Minor. Doug taught Agile classes for ASPE, and still co-teaches with the Hard Yard’s own Mark Pushinsky any chance he gets. Doug has a B.S. in Computer Science from Longwood University.
ASHLEY SHOVAL, DESIGN CONSULTANT
Before joining Hard Yards as a design thinking specialist, Ashley taught advertising strategy and creative at Virginia Commonwealth University. There, she coached her students to win national awards in product innovation by turning insights into action. Prior to that, she worked at several ad agencies including TBWA\Chiat\Day, the firm that wrote the book on Disruption methodology. Beyond that, Ashley launched her own photography company and an organic market and cafe in Manhattan. Ashley earned her BA in Economics at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College including time spent at Reading and Oxford Universities, and her MS at VCU’s Brandcenter.
MARK PALMER, PRINCIPAL
Mark Palmer is a Principal at Hard Yards with over 20 years in technology, software, and product development. Mark has served Fortune 500 clients, nonprofits, and government agencies on their Agile Transformation journeys with "Kaizen Mind", an improvement culture based on transparency, inspection, and adaptation. Mark is a Certified Team Coach (CTC) with the Scrum Alliance, and is the founder and co-organizer of ScrumRVA, Richmond VA’s Scrum User Group. When not traveling and serving organizations abroad, he enjoys spending time on his homestead and playing percussion for a local acoustic band.
JIM KOCKLER, PRINCIPAL
Prior to joining The Hard Yards, Jim was a Senior Systems Engineer at Decisive Analytics Corporation where he led independent assessments of air-to-air and air-to-ground major defense acquisition programs. Jim is a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot and weapons officer with more than 22 years of joint, multinational, and interagency experience. He holds an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and will earn an M.S. in the Management of Information Technology from the University of Virginia in August 2019. Additionally, Jim holds an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo, an two M.A.s (National Security and Strategic Studies and Operational Art and Science) from Air University. He earned his B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
BROOKE PETTITT, AGILE COACH
Brooke is an Agile Coach at Hard Yards. Before joining the team, she coached teams during their Agile Transformation with clients such as Anthem and Snag. She also championed an Agile Transformation with a local State Agency. Brooke began her own Agile journey in 2011 going from a business analyst/project manager to a Scrum Master and eventually a Coach. Brooke is a member of the Agile Richmond board which is a local organization that works to bring Agile/Lean experts together to learn and share. Agile Richmond hosts an annual conference, InnoVAte Virginia, which Brooke is an active participant in. When not coaching awesome teams, Brooke enjoys cooking, weightlifting and spending time with family.
