Scrum is today the most popular Agile framework, used by organizations worldwide. Scrum is a simple yet incredibly powerful set of practices that help teams deliver products in short cycles, enable fast feedback, and create a culture of rapid adaptation to change. This class teaches the foundations of Agile and provides a solid understanding of the Scrum framework. Learn the essential concepts and tools of Scrum, including managing product backlogs, planning releases and sprints, tracking and reporting progress, and conducting stand-ups and retrospectives.

A Certified ScrumMaster® helps project teams properly use Scrum, increasing the likelihood of the project's overall success. CSMs understand Scrum values, practices, and applications and provide a level of knowledge and expertise above and beyond that of typical project managers. CSMs act as "servant leaders," helping the rest of the Scrum team work together and learn the Scrum framework. CSMs also protect the team from both internal and external distractions.

The Certified ScrumMaster class is aimed at those interested in pursuing a Scrum Alliance certification to attest their knowledge of Scrum. It is best suited for Managers, Scrum Masters, Project Managers, and Scrum Team Members.

This is a highly interactive class using experiential learning. Using a variety of short lectures and class exercises you will learn the core concepts and develop hands-on experience. We strive at creating a learning environment that is engaging and fun, and at making sure you walk out of the class with the practice and skillset needed to act as an effective Certified ScrumMaster.

Design Thinking & Agile Training

Design Thinking and Agile Training - Norfolk, Virginia

Design Thinking is a structured approach for identifying opportunities or problems and testing many possible solutions. It can be used for both large scale innovation as well as small scale continuous improvements. Whether you are a scrum master, product owner, devops person, or simply curious, this course aims to demonstrate the benefits of design thinking as well as how to put it to use in your everyday role.

After a short introduction to the principles of DT, you will learn by doing and work together in teams on a simulated exercise. Guided by your instructor, you will leave with practical techniques that you can put to work for your organization the next day.

  • De-mistify Design Thinking and understand why it’s important

  • Determine who should use it, when and for what purpose

  • Equip your teams with concrete tools that help apply Design Thinking principles to your everyday work including:

    • Empathy interviews: improve the way you ask questions and connect with customers to understand what they need and want

    • Affinity clustering and insight generation: turn conversations and interviews into high impact areas of focus for your organization and team

    • Ideation and brainstorming techniques: learn tools to guide a team from insights into action

    • Prototyping methods and ways to test

  • Learn how and when to apply the right tools to real-life situations.
