This upcoming November, Hard Yards Managing Partner, Jason Lamb, a former Navy SEAL, will be racing in the New York City Marathon with the Navy SEAL Foundation Marathon team. The team, composed of dedicated supporters, former SEALS, veterans, and family members, are all going the 26.2 mile distance in solidarity for the SEAL community.

The mission of the Navy SEAL Foundation (NSF) is to provide immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare (NSW) community and its families. The NSF is a high-performing organization committed to excellence. They have been awarded ten consecutive 4-star ratings from Charity Navigator. NSF has also earned a perfect score of 100 for financial health, accountability, and transparency, placing them in the top 1% of over 9,000 rated charities nationwide. Ninety-four cents of every dollar donated goes directly to programs or is retained for future mission use. Since its inception over 20 years ago, NSF has funded over $108 million in programmatic assistance for the NSW community. The goal for the NYC marathon team is to raise $200K in support of its mission.

When asked about the importance and meaning behind this event, Jason responded with, “Why did Forrest Gump run?” It is not about the NYC Marathon itself, it is about the search for purpose and meaning.  Jason explained, “Long runs afford the opportunity for self-reflection and reflecting on the sacrifices and service of teammates that have served and continue to serve.”

Hard Yards is proud to support the Navy SEAL Foundation in its mission to raise money and support the Naval Special Warfare community. Please join us in cheering on Jason and the other runners during the race! If you want to support the NSF in achieving their fundraising goal, please consider donating.
